Now that it has gone to press, I can share the exciting opportunity I had while in Kosovo earlier in May.
On the Spot Magazine is published by @sketcherpress Press and I was very happy to be able to contribute to the magazine with my reportage assignment, telling something of the history of Kosovo through it’s public art monuments.
Grateful to @gabicampanario for letting me have a go and then publishing the results!
I love the idea of Reportage Sketching and feel it is something I wish to do more of, ‘bringing back’ stories to share.
The whole article can be seen online at Sketcher Press. I made the sketches in the capital Pristina with the family in tow. (grand daughter Ellie was particually fond of the crosslegged man, Faik Rexhepi )
I sketched quickly, on the spot, using my Sailor Fude Fountain pen with brown ink and adding diluted blue ink from a waterbrush. They are rough, but in the spirit of reportage, I didnt feel I should touch them up or change them when I got home.
On the Spot is the source of information and inspiration for reportage artists, urban sketchers, cartoonists, illustrators and any other visual storytellers who create works of graphic journalism.
