A series of paintings using toy matchbox cars and real bug specimens is a lighthearted nod to the Dutch Still Life painters of the 16th century. The artists of the Golden Age painted bugs and moths as signs of decay within the elaborate paintings of wealth and power to remind the viewer of their ultimate mortality.
